Global and local economic development, increased mobility and individualization, and demographic changes have fundamentally altered the basis for everyday social interaction in urban areas, which is why the social cohesion of inner-city neighborhoods and their residents is now often viewed as vulnerable. The strong socio-spatial changes are reflected in residential and commercial neighborhood structures - with wide implications for the neighborly coexistence.
